Sculptor

Always artistic, my dad loved his life sculpture class and attended for many years producing a lot of sculptures. I think he had a good eye, was talented in this regard, but most importantly, he loved sculpting.

Dad stopped sculpting when his arthritis got to be too much. Anyhow, that’s our theory, he never complained so perhaps it was something else. I discovered the name of his teacher a few days after Dad died, which was somehow a comfort to me.

Somewhere I have photos from many years ago of a clay pit firing outing at Dillon Beach- it was so much fun! Sun, dogs, happy people burying their art in the sand, throwing in all sorts of organic compounds to influence the final color.

Before they lit the pit on fire they all stood in a circle and held hands; I don’t remember what was said, I do remember everyone seemed to be my dad’s friend. Now I realize that everyone was his friend.

Longtime family friend from Sausalito, architect Bob Politzer was there, perhaps you were too?
